IPC-307 Inverter Phase Checker Questions and Answers
Q. What is the main purpose and application of the IPC-307?
A. The IPC-307 is designed to easily and quickly identify faults on the inverter printed circuit board (PCB).
Q. Why test the inverter PCB?
A. Testing helps identify the cause(s) of system failures. Testing inverter circuit boards prior to removal can prevent unnecessary time and costs associated with replacing circuit boards. A compressor failure can often cause inverter circuit board failure; so testing for proper operation of the inverter PCB before reconnecting replacement compressors can prevent further catastrophic failures.
Q. How does the IPC-307 test the circuit board?
A. The IPC-307 detects, measures and records the voltages of the 3-phase outputs of the inverter circuit board. Each phase has two transistors that switch positive and negative relative voltages to create alternating current.
